Digital handheld radio

I've decided that the least stressful way to do travelling to Cambridge for the course next week is train. It's sub-optimal in that I have to get a train at 7.30am and will be faffing about in Cambridge from 8.20 to 10am some mornings, but the next train is too late.

I'm sure I can find somewhere to go for proper breakfast or similar, but it'd be really good to have Radio 4 available. My little mini radio (FM) rarely has good reception - it cuts in and out during the journey to Cambridge. A little googling has shown me that you can get DAB handheld radios, (seeming to cost £80 +). So questions:

1, What are the chances of a DAB radio having better reception during the train journey/in Cambridge itself?
2, Presumably I want a DAB radio with an FM backup? Any other good features to look for?
3, Do brand names signify quality in this area?
4, (question to myself really) - what's the justification for this impluse buy? £80 = a lot of money on something I will use, but it very definitely a luxury.
