Floating voter

There are elections to the Borough Council in my area. Five candidates for two posts.
Two tories, one lib dem, one greeen & one independent. I received some literature from the two tories and didn't particularly like what they were suggesting, but it was OK, I've received a leaflet from the independent and don't want to vote for him, which leaves me with the lib dem and the green from whom I've so far heard nothing.

There are also 'Parish' elections to Bury Town Council (err, yes, I don't get that either). Here there are three candidates for two posts, two standing for a party called 'Abolish Bury Town Council', the other a tory (who is also standing for the Borough Council).

At the moment I've very little idea of how I'm going to vote though I'm intending (in this instance) to vote on the basis of local rather than national issues. I need to learn a bit more about the issues in question before I can make up my mind.

How about you? Who are you likely to be voting for (if you're going to vote at all) and why? [Yes, I appreciate some people won't want to discuss this, but I know some people do, so I'm happy to provide a 'space' to have such a discussion]
