Moving House

Having spent Friday thinking about next year's camp and making lots of lists of things to remember to do for camp next year, I had to start in on packing to move house on Sunday.

I hate packing - let's just leave it at that.

I had to come to London on Saturday because I was expecting someone to come and look round my new place, but she didn't turn up. Anyway, [livejournal.com profile] puzzlering cooked lunch at 11am ish (it was breakfast for everyone else), and I then left them to go back to Kings Cross to clean my old room/finish packing. I'm very glad that I did that, since when we reached there on Sunday we were all far too tired to think about niceities like cleaning.

It was very late when I got home, due to trains conspiring to make me miss the bus - but I went to Pizza Hut and got a really nice pizza with chicken and sweetcorn. Then more packing/car loading when I got home.

Sunday morning was not pleasant - the drive there was fine, but unloading our car and then reloading it with A and R's things took ages and we all got too hot. Trust me to have picked the hottest day in the year to move house. Then three of us took the overground train to Kings Cross while my Mum and A went in the car, where we unloaded their bits, drank lots and lots of water, then loaded my bits into the car and went back to Kilburn, where we went for lunch at Small Beautiful (sp? - can't quite remember the name) - it's about three/four minutes away from where I live and does really nice food. After lunch we went back and finished unloading the car into my new flat, and did some unpacking - not a great deal though, since we were all exhausted.

Then having had enough of that we went off to Hampstead Heath to go swimming in the ponds. We walked for miles to get there - which I wasn't really in the mood for doing, but we got there in the end, and had a swim in the ladies' pond. I hadn't realised that it was 3-5 metres deep all the way across, not that it matters since I can swim, it is just nice to know these things before you get in though. We were soon evicted from the pond when there was a clap of thunder - to guard against the risk of lightening strikes you can't swim until 20 mins after the last clap of thunder.

After swimming we lay in the grass and relaxed - I was almost sleeping. Strange how me swearing still provokes a reaction from some people. I just emerged with 'Fuck' over forgetting to do something I ought to have done and everyone was up in arms over it. Around 7.30 we decided to go home, I got in and did a bit more unpacking, - enough to make my bed and find clothes for the morning and send the food towards the kitchen, but was too tired to do much more.

Unpacking continued a bit over each evening until now - when all I've got left is a very heavy suitcase containing papery things/files etc, which is causing me some difficulty 'cos I don't know where I'm going to put it all.
