Coffee in Borders

Owing to my computer refusing to stay connected to the internet for more than 30 seconds at a time, I didn't manage to send out an email re Coffee in Borders.

So, I don't know what any of you are planning on doing, other than that last week lots of people said they couldn't come this week, so I'm going to wander along to Borders and see if anyone appears.

I have another invitation for later in the evening, so will almost certainly leave Borders before 8pm.

Any advice on what might be wrong with my computer would be greatly appreciated - I'm currently thinking that it's possibly something to do with the connection between the computer and the cable that might be the problem, so I'm going to buy myself a new cable and see if that fixes the problem before doing anything more expensive/difficult.

Try simply reseating cables before buying new ones. Cures quite a few faults...

Disconnect it then reconnect it.

Tried that - it seems rather loose/wobbly and I don't know why. I've tried holding it in place, but nothing I try to do to it will make it keep a connection.

I guess if the worst comes to the worst I'll need a new modem:-(

I have a spare 56K modem (external) if such becomes necessary....

I don't think I'll make it out this evening, as I'm still recovering from whatever it was I went down with on Sunday. I'm feeling less splat, but if I'm to make it out for Dorkbot tomorrow evening I really ought to stay home and have another early night.

Plus Diva will tell me off if I don't. ;-)

Check the status page for your ISP - it might well be them being crap.
