Pavlovian conditioning

You know, I think I'm acquiring that hugely self indulgent thing called a social life:-)

First I had lunch with [livejournal.com profile] hairyears, which was lovely - though the service could have been quicker.... Then this evening [livejournal.com profile] neonchameleon, [livejournal.com profile] mstevens and [livejournal.com profile] wuluf turned up for Coffee in Borders. We didn't go out for dinner, but had a nice time chatting about geeky stuff and politics and music and everything in between.

The next Coffee in Borders will be on 4th January. AFAI am aware no one is about next Tuesday (28th Dec).

I have an idea which I'll expand on in a filtered post that requires a cassette or CD of balloon bursting noises. A *pint* or *chocolate* or some other prize to the first geek who manages to send me one.

I'd love some suggestions for LiveJournals you think I should be reading.

Absolute classic: 'Just because it's called the Book at Bedtime doesn't mean you should have been in bed for the past hour.... BBC Radio 4 is not your Nanny'

Sorry I missed that - was at an interview. Then packing, then a train to Leicester.

Hmmm.... have I met [livejournal.com profile] wuluf? A quick peek at the journal suggests I missed an interesting and entertaining conversationalist.

Ah well - see you all on January 4th, or maybe sooner: what are people doing for New Year's Eve?

Diva, Liz and I intend to make it to Marna's party, assmuming that (a) I don't get stranded in Wales if it snows, (b) Liz's health is up to it, and/or (c) Diva doesn't go down with a repeat of the flu which prevented us from attending last year.

Two of the standard four people I would recommend are already on your Friends list (he said, being annoyingly cryptic to avoid ego boosts, and also so that you can have the fun of guessing which two I mean) - the other two I would recommend are the astonishingly erudite yet tremendously pithy [livejournal.com profile] addedentry and [livejournal.com profile] wayfairer, a titan around whom much of LJ revolves as a direct result of her creativity, enthusiasm and perception.

Well, it's definitely true that a lot of her good stuff is Friends-only, but more than half of the lemmings are (a) far more imaginitive than most and (b) genuinely original. I firmly stick by my top-few view.

At this time of year, [livejournal.com profile] ixwin's [livejournal.com profile] adventcalendar. (Ixwin herself is also generally worth reading). If she ever updates, [livejournal.com profile] gnimmel is extremely interesting (and it's well worth going back through her entries).

[livejournal.com profile] bisonwife and [livejournal.com profile] bisonbaby. And you might get a kick out of [livejournal.com profile] young_visiters although not much has been posted there yet.
