Eh?

Yes, I *am* a pedant. No, I don't think being a pedant is a bad thing.

Why are Radio 4 news readers now saying "BBC News on Radio 4" rather than "BBC Radio 4 News"? Has there been a change in the structure of BBC News? Did Radio 4 previously have a dedicated news team that no longer exists? Or is it purely a cosmetic change to emphasise that all BBC News comes from the same place?

:: nods :: I'd noticed that change too from earlier in the week, indeed I think it started on October 1st which would suggest to me that something internally in the BBC has changed in reporting lines or departmental ownership.

Probably an edict from the same unit which told presenters a couple of years ago that they have to say "good morning to you" and not just "good morning"...

Probably the latter.

It sounds horrible doesn't it. I'm surprised we aren't "BBC News for BBC Radio 4, a service of BBC Audio and Music" :)
