Cambridge picnic

Following a conversation with meihua yesterday, I said I'd organise a picnic in Cambridge over the summer when the weather should be nice. I'm doing this now, because a fair number of the invitees will have diary-scheduling-hell and the only way to get them available is to do organising ages in advance.

It is open invite to anyone who finds the invitation. I'm expecting a fair proportion of the bi/poly Cambridge crowd to appear (as the original impetus for this was that we really ought to have a Cambridge poly picnic, and it makes more sense to just have a great big open invite picnic). Bringing along friends/partners/kids is fine. Please don't repost the content here or link to it on public mailing lists/newsgroups (I can't stop anyone doing this, nor can I stop people 'gate-crashing' a picnic in a public park, but the aim is that people who come along will know at least some of the other people there a little bit). [Yes, this needs to be a public post, as not all of the invitees will be LJ users (and yes, I know you have to have an LJ account to fill in polls. All I'm doing at this point is date fixing, there's no need to give a definite yes or no about whether you'll be there or not.

I don't want it quite *that* open access, if that makes sense. This is more of an organised picnic rather than one relying upon people just turning up and happening.

*smiles* - tis all ewx's fault. He started the 'tradition' of having an insensitive clod box and it seems to make sense to me as there's always going to be people who won't fit into the poll options I've thought of.

I'd probably need somewhere to stay, but I've been meaning to come to Cambridge for ages and should just DO it. I have a few friends there at the moment who I really do want to see.

You're very welcome to come and stay with me, but this will be rather suboptimal for getting home again owing to lack of sensible train services from Bury.

I'd be quite likely to drag myself & some partners up to Cambridge to attend a poly picnic on a Saturday afternoon. It would, of course, be subject-to-trains existing - which may seem like an odd thing to say, but it has been almost impossible to get down to Brighton or Worthing of a weekend for many weeks now - either there've been no trains between here & Clapham Junction, or some part of the line from Clapham Junction down to the South Coast has been out.

21st June is my birthday, so I'd rather not do anything that weekend. (Is it actually a Saturday this year? Haven't even looked yet!). I'm planning on having a 2 to the power 5 party, but I have no idea about details.
