UK Tax returns
Sort of PSA, having spent Sunday sorting my mum's tax return out.
If you want to complete a paper form (rather than submit your return online) you need to do so before the end of October 2008 (ie. not January 2009). See this HMRCpage.
If you want to complete your return online you need to register with the Government Gateway and enroll for Self Assessment - this process relies on two pieces of information being sent to you through the post, so don't leave registering until late in January. On the basis of experience in previous years, the online Self Assessment system is likely to crash over 30-31st January 2009 due to lots of people trying to meet the deadline.
Am happy to answer easy questions about tax returns and stuff.

My question is still "Why can't they write the instructions in plain english?", but I think we've covered this before.
