Laziness
1. Can someone point me at a list of greasemonkey scripts useful for using with LJ?
2. Sort of related - does anyone have anything useful for automatically LJ cutting posts that are automatically fed to LJ from Twitter? [No objection to people ccing Twitter to LJ, but I only want to read it once not twice and I'll have usually already read it on Twitter]
3. What are your power management settings for your PC? Do you turn it off when you're out for the day/at night? Do you use some sort of suspend setting? What's better these days for computers - being left turned on or being turned on and off as needed? [Presumably energy saving wise we're now at the point where turning them on and off as needed saves energy]
4. If I were to want to grow vegetables in my garden, what can be grown successfully in big pots? I have a little bit of flower bed space, but not very much and am not very confident about any of this.

I have no idea if Karen is using S1 or S2, but in S1 you can achieve the same by editing your style (but only if you have a paid/perm/early adopter account) or by putting it into your overrides.
I edited my style, but putting something like
FRIENDS_HEAD<=
<style type="text/css">
<!--
.loudtwitter {
display: none!important
}
-->
</style>
<=FRIENDS_HEAD
into the overrides box on http://www.livejournal.com/customize/s1/index.bml should do the same. Note however that I just wrote this and it is completely untested. If it doesn't work and makes your friends page disappear or something just delete it :)

Strawberries grow VERY easily in containers as their roots are tiny. They also do well utilising wall/fence space in baskets. In fact, they're better in containers than in the ground, so they don't spread everywhere.
I'm already growing potatoes in old cardboard boxes and containers. I'm also going to grow outdoor cucumbers (crystal apple) in a pot. Blueberries are better off in a pot as they need a different kind of soil pH from most of my other plants. I'm also going to get goji berries, strawbini and probably a pixie peach from these people to grow in pots. Some other soft fruit bushes do well in pots. As mentioned already, tomatoes, peppers, chili plants, etc do fine in pots.

Laptops can be put into hibernate mode to achieve the same thing and bring things up as they were - windows and networking states notwithstanding.
With laptops I tend to set them to dim screens after a few minutes non use and go into standby after say 15+ mins.

I usually use the RAM thing, but my box has the habit of waking up at unpredictable times, doing Something, then shutting back down, and this sometimes wakes me up if it's during the night. (I haven't found out what it thinks it's supposed to be doing or where the time-of-day for these wake-ups is controlled.) So if I'm especially tired, I'll flip the switch at the power supply, and then flip it back in the morning and resume from disk.
(I tried flipping the PSU switch and flipping it back after a few seconds, thinking that should be enough, but no - the system woke up by itself in the middle of the night and attempt to boot from disk, which was even more annoying since my CD drive makes odd grinding noises when initialising.)
At work - I usually leave the computer on, on full power, during the week, shutting it down only on Friday afternoons.
