God knows

http://www.admin.ox.ac.uk/po/040212.shtml - Election for the Professor of Poetry, on 15th May. Anyone who wants to be nominated should shout and I'll submit a form.

Anyone can stand if they are nominated by at least twelve members of Convocation (essentially Oxford graduates who have graduated in the sense of going to the Sheldonian in sub fusc/doing so in abstentia + members/retired members of Congregation).

Far easier to stand for than the Chancellorship was, John.

LPC revision isn't going so badly - after Finals, the prospect of three exams in two days is not at all intimidating - though I am going to take Thursday off work for some last minute revision.

The gloves I'm knitting seem to be in danger of being too big - but I've no way of knowing for certain till I knit a bit more....

You actually know people who would be suitable Professors of Poetry?

How on earth could someone make a worthwhile political point by standing for an academic post they were clearly not qualified for?

By generating publicity for the cause.

By disrupting something completely unconnected with it (unless you can name a "cause" that is related...)? Sounds pretty idiotic to me...
