Dress making

OK - Halsbury dinner on 2nd May requires black tie. Now while I've got a couple of dresses I might wear, what I think I might like to do is make myself a top to go with the black skirt I made last October. The problem is that I don't have any patterns I want to use, and don't have anything I particularly want to copy either. So all ideas welcome.
