Yet another meme thing

Well the weekend consisted of feeling tired Friday evening - indeed too tired to write emails, and if I know that what I'm writing isn't making sense then I'm extremely tired. Walk with four of our Patrol Leaders on Saturday morning - I didn't get home until about 3pm. It was wet - which made the whole thing far less pleasant than it could have been - but it was good fun. I still don't have a great deal of confidence in my map reading skills, or in my ability to identify trees/flowers, and I'm not really sure what I can do to fix that. I'm also becoming increasingly convinced of the usefulness of walking boots and gaiters as opposed to wellies for walking in. I'm as much concerned that I'll buy boots that'll give me blisters as I am about the total cost - since I can see them as being worthwhile in the long run. Oh well, might go shopping next week - I get Tuesday off, even though I don't get paid for it.

I was so incredibly tired after the walk as well, when I got home, I changed clothes and then collapsed. At least five and a half miles isn't as far as I'd feared it might be - it's been a long time since I've walked that kind of distance - actually probably not that long - I'm sure we walked a reasonable distance in Cumbria, but around here everything's flattish, which makes it much easier to walk than anywhere in Cumbria.

Sunday wasn't much better on the tiredness stakes - I was forced out of bed at 10.30 and should really have gone back to bed afterwards. I was so sleepy I even tried lying down in the middle of the afternoon, but nothing seemed to help, so I just gave up and felt tired. It wasn't until about 6pm that I began to feel awake.

And now for that meme thing

1. What color are your kitchen plates?

Well the ones at home are a speckled cream with green leaves and other little bits of colour. My plates are cream with a green design - very boring really, but they were what I wanted at the time, because they were cheap and I didn't need to be too concerned about breaking them. When I get the chance to have nice kitchen stuff I think I want something brightly coloured and including lots of blue.

2. What book are you reading now?

Tolkein's Lord of the Rings - been planning to read it for years, and have finally gotten round to doing so.

3. What's on your mouse pad?

A gel pad for my wrist. I tend not to use one at home because my laptop has an internal mouse.

4. Favourite magazine?

Never really read magazines.

5. Favourite smells?

Cut grass - even though I suffer with hayfever, cakes and stuff baking in the oven, decent coffee, dinner cooking, roses.

6. Least favourite smells?

Gone off milk/cream - actually gone off food in general,

7. What is the first thing you think of when you wake up in the morning?

Not sure - it's sometimes an 'urr what's the time?' type thought, other times it's a 'oh my god, have I overslept?', occassionally it's an excited 'ooh, I get to do A, B and C today' sometimes it's relief that my dreams weren't true, and that I haven't actually done the stupid things I've dreamt I've done, other times it's a resigned 'grr got to get up, where are my glasses?', in the winter it's generally 'I'm cold, I want to stay in bed.' and at the weekends it's generally a 'oh thank goodness I don't have to get up - please let me fall asleep again.'

8. Favourite colour[s]?

Blue, purple and then particular shades of other colours - there are some shades of pinks and lemons that I like and others that I hate.

9. Least favourite colour?

Generally green - but there are some green things I like.

10. How many rings before you answer the phone?

Depends where I am - at work I generally have to restrain myself to let it ring a couple of times before answering it, because it can be really disturbing to not have a phone ring at all. Other times it generally takes four or five rings for me to reach the phone. My mobile, I answer as soon as I hear it ring - which often means not at all, cos I'm a great believer in silent mode.

11. Future child's name?

Not sure - at one time I'd have said Emily, and I still like the name, but I think I might pick something else.

12. Do you like to drive fast?

No - I've never really liked driving, though I really must finish learning how it's done.

13. Do you sleep with a stuffed animal?

Not really - I have lots of stuffed animals in my bedroom, but none in my bed.

14. Do you like storms?

Depends where I am and what I'm doing - storms are nice when you're curled up at home with hot chocolate and a television, light rain is nice when you're in a tent and sleeping (and feel confident nothing's going to leak!). But apart from that, no, not really.

15. What type was your first car?

Haven't had one yet.

16. If you could meet one human, dead or alive, who would it be?

Don't know - there are people I've only ever encountered online/via email I'd like to meet, but I don't think any of them count. I'm now struggling between lots of politicians - no one really stands out though.

17. Favourite Alcoholic drink?

Alcopops or taboo and lemonade.

18. What are your sign and your birthday?

Gemini - 22nd May

19. Do you eat the stems of Broccoli?

Yes, if they're well hidden in something nice.

20. If you could have any job, what would it be?

Ruling the World, failing that, Prime Minister, failing that, something where I get to make a difference to people's lives (which is bringing the whole thing back down to something realistic)

21. Any Hair Colour I Want?

I'd love to try out being blonde for a day - just to see what it looks like.

22. Have you ever been in love?

No, not yet.

23. Is the glass half full or half empty?

Half empty.

24. Favourite movie?

Not sure - when I was much, much younger it was the Chronicles of Narnia that were serialised for BBC 1 - but that's not quite a film - how about Mcgyver, Four Weddings and a Funeral, Armageddon, - anything actiony, rather than romantic comedy really- not sure what else. I really should watch more films.

25. Do you type with your fingers on the right keys?

Just about - I can certainly type without looking at my fingers, which is a wonderful skill to have.

26. What's under your bed?

Not sure - there's two drawers - one has lots of Guide blue T shirts, the other has things like half finished rugs - though the contents of that draw is my Mum's not mine.

27. What is your favorite number?

5 and most things ending with a 5, 22 because it's my birthday.

28. Favourite sport to watch?

Tennis, snooker, ice dancing, other ice staking, skiing, the London marathon, pole valuting.

29. What is your biggest fear?

Not sure - I've got lots of fears, but I'm not sure which is my biggest - at the moment it's mainly a how long's it going to take me to find a rewarding long term job. I'm doing OK with my other generalised fear - that of never finding anyone to love, because I'm feeling quite confident that I will find someone eventually.

30. Say one nice thing about the person who sent this to you.

Err, well I sort of stole it from

Err, well I sort of stole it from <ljuser=j4>. I don't know anything about her - so don't know what I *can* say about her - except that she sounds very interesting from her journal entries!

31. Favourite CD?

The Beautiful Game - lyrics from the musical, then tapes called something like 'the best of the musicals' - two tapes containing lots of lovely songs - some I like more than others. I've just got the Sound of Music soundtrack and have yet to listen to it yet - mainly because I'm lazy and it's not been in the same place as my laptop (besides which my laptop is often ill and crashes when asked to do more than one thing at a time).

32. Favourite TV shows?

Buffy, Angel, Charmed, CSI, JAG, ER, Quantum Leap, the News, Panorama (the Today programme - yes I know it's a radio programme, not a TV one), Newsnight, University Challenge, anything involving hospitals. Don't watch anywhere near as much TV as I did pre uni.

33. Ketchup or Mustard?

Neither - both are icky.

34. Hamburger or Hotdog?

Hamburger, properly cooked in a bap.

35. Favourite soft drink?

Coffee, coke, lemonade, tropical fruit squash, hot chocolate.

36. The best places you have ever been?

Washington DC, bits of London, Oxford, other bits of America.

37. Burger King or McDonalds?

Whichever one's nearest to me and has the shortest queue.

</lj-cut>

And after all of that my shoulder does hurt - this is my left shoulder that generally starts to hurt when I'm tired or I've been lifting lots of things - I did go to Sainsburys at lunch time, but the bags weren't that heavy.

Ah well, half an hour till I can go home.....
