Ramblings from my desk,
I've now accomplished buying walking boots, getting the bits I needed from the Guide shop, and have an appointment to go back to Lloyds to arrange my loan for my LPC fees. Looks like it'll be 7.8% as an interest rate (grr. daft me didn't ask whether that's an APR, or a monthly rate or what).
Seem to have a bit of a problem with Loot not including my ad where it ought to be - not sure what to do, am loath to have to pay for an entry - though I think I'll have to for next week, when I won't be around to send one in each day.
Can anyone help with with problem solving - I'm going camping this Saturday, and won't be back until Thursday evening.
I'm moving into my new place on 10th August, - which is the Sunday after I come back from camping. I therefore can't show anyone round for the week while I'm away, and I don't really know how they're going to be able to get in touch with me. I'm considering investigating either buying a car charger for my evil device, or working out how to get rid of my voice operated voicemail and then changing the greeting - so that I can record something like 'I'm currently away, if you're calling about the room in Kilburn, please leave your name and number and I'll get back to you at the weekend.'.
All ideas welcome.
Grr. job applications, still struggling with the Govt Legal Service one, and wondering about how I'm going to make use of any CoL/Oxford careers facilites in the near future. Full time work's all well and good, till I need to do things that can only be done during working hours.

What facial feature do you find the most attractive on others?
Soft, smooth skin.
Would you vote for a woman candidate for president?
If she was the best person for the job, of course.
Would you marry for money?
Nope
Have you had braces?
Nope.
Do you pluck your eyebrows?
Not in the sense of getting a pair of tweezers and wincing a lot, no - but I ocassionally get a couple of fingersfull of eyebrows when I tug at them a bit.
Do you ever cut or hurt yourself?
Never intentionally. I am quite clumsy though.
Could you live without a computer?
Well I could, but I wouldn't want to.
Do you drink enough water?
Doubt it.
Do you wear shoes in the house or take them off?
Depends, unless I want to curl up on the settee or on a bed I tend not to bother taking them off.
What is your favourite fruit?
Not sure really - there are lots of fruits I like.
Do you eat wheat bread or white?
Nowadays either - though I still prefer white.
What is your favourite place to visit?
Not sure I have one - maybe Washington DC some time when it's not very hot.
Are you photogenic?
Nope.
Do you dream in colour or black and white?
Neither really - I had a really weird dream last night, that I'd gone to camp and not done anything for the whole six days (which is kind of nightmarish, since I'm in charge of health and first aid - including chemical toilets)

Nope. I don't wear it very often, so I've never really got used to having nails that aren't nail colour.
Do you have any dimples?
Don't think so.
Do you remember being born?
Nope.
Why do you take surveys?
'Cos I get bored.
Did you like or do you like secondary school?
Err - I don't really know how to answer that; I was bullied, it was hard work, but I still found leaving very difficult, because I'd grown so accustomed to it.
When you are asleep do you like being kissed?
I don't remember anyone ever trying - but I very much doubt it - I'd be liable to wake up and panic at that kind of touch.
Do you think women should be expected to shave their body hair?
No. I led a one woman crusade against shaving until I was sixteen, and started working at Woolworths (where I had to wear skin colour tights, so *had* to shave my legs). That was my form of teenage rebellion - to rebel against everything I was supposed to be interested in/want. It was also one of the many things people bullied me about.
Do you like salty food or sugary food the most?
Sugary!
Is a flat stomach important to you?
Nope. I am who I am, and I look the way I look. If other people have a problem with that, it's their problem and not mine.
Are you tolerant of other peoples beliefs?
Of course - how else would
beingjdc and I have a civilised conversation:-)

Lights on, 'cos watching telly in the dark is bad for your eyes.
Do you believe in magic?
Well never say never, but I doubt that it's possible.
Do you have nightmares frequently?
No, just ocassionally - and they're never really nightmares in the sense of monsters coming to get me, more in the sense of real world things going wrong - like the ones I had over Finals (that I'd forgotten to go to an exam, or that my script got soaked or something)
Do you like your nose?
Yes, except when I've been crying and it's gone red.
Do you listen to music daily?
No, I only listen to music when there's nothing on the radio or telly to which I want to watch/listen. I am rather taken with the soundtrack to the musical Buffy though.
At what age did you find out that Santa Claus wasn't real?
Seven.
How many pairs of shoes do you have in your closet?
Lots.
Do you like to wear the same shoes everyday or do you like a variety?
It depends what I'm doing - I have a lovely pair of flat black shoes which I live in when I'm at work, then I've got a pair of sandals that I can wear to work with a skirt/dress for the really hot weather. Then I've got trainers and hight heels for occasions that require them, and my lovely new walking boots, that I wore all day Sunday to start wearing them in.
Do you write poetry?
Oh no, not since I was about eleven.
Do you snore?
I don't think so - but when I'm ill I cough a lot in my sleep.
Do you sleep more on your back, front, or sides?
All ways apart from on my back.
Do you lick stamps?
When necessary yes, but we now have nice self adhesive ones.
Do you use an electric can opener?
Nope.
Have you ridden in a hot air balloon?
Nope.
Which hurts the most, physical or emotional pain?
They're not really comparable, says me trying to weigh up bereavement against apendicitis.

I don't care - whatever makes them happy.
Do you know anyone who is clinically depressed?
If LiveJournal people count, then yes, if not, I can think of friends who have been depressed in the past.
Do you prefer a piano or a violin?
A piano.
Do you know someone who has cancer?
I did. Indeed, I've known of a couple of people (my Mum's relatives) who've had cancer.
Do you like to hunt?
Depends what's being hunted - if it's Easter eggs, or treasure or something then yes, it's fun. If it's animals then I'm not too sure where I stand - I don't think I'd ever want to do it myself, and I certainly wouldn't want the animals to suffer more harm that necessary (so shoot them, rather than let dogs tear them apart), but apart from that, what's wrong with it?
Do you have a middle name? What is it?
Yep, it's Joan.

What does your bedroom look like?
My room in Tadley is pink and is full of things that aren't mine atm, 'cos my grandparents are staying. My room in Kings Cross is very boring, 'cos I'm only there temporarily. Yes.
Seem to have a bit of a problem with Loot not including my ad where it ought to be - not sure what to do, am loath to have to pay for an entry - though I think I'll have to for next week, when I won't be around to send one in each day.
