Quirky Karenness
Reading the papers over people's shoulders, as one does on the tube, I've noticed 'Dubya' written everywhere for obvious reasons. There's nothing really striking about that, except that I just recalled being horribly confused by it for ages. You see, I read 'Dubya' as 'Due By A' - and so couldn't see how it was supposed to have anything at all to do with Mr Bush.....
I get confused like that a lot.
Now a question to ponder:
If I have a moral value that tells me it is wrong to talk about people behind their backs (ie. to their friends/people with whom they might realistically come into contact) is it still wrong of me to talk about those people to people with whom they won't ever come into contact/person disguised so that they wouldn't recognise that individual as being the person about whom I'd been speaking?
Not criticising anyone, just trying to work out what my moral value means in practice.....
Oh and
pne posted something yesterday containing a link to an entry with lots of 'tips' on how to get people to comment to one's entries.
Much as I pour scorn on people who post simply in order to get comments (ie attention seekers) - if you're going to post do it because you have something you want to say, I had to restrain myself from commenting to that post, otherwise I'd just prove my own point....For people to want to comment they generally need to read something with which they disagree and want to argue about; therefore the way to get comments is to post things guaranteed to raise hackles (but not to select arguments that have been done to death or variations on such arguments eg. the plan in the UK to make hospitals treat foetal material from miscarrages, stillbirths and abortions with respect rather than as clinical waste).
