I'm a Londoner and I'm pissed off
It took me ages getting home yesterday evening - I thought getting to Paddington to pick up the Bakerloo line would be quickest, but didn't factor in having to spend twenty minutes on a platform waiting for a train. Need to work out the best routes home - I think the 52 from Victoria might be the better option. The journey planner reckons a 2 to Marble Arch then a 414/16/6 (note that you can get a 16 from Victoria) to Edgware Road then walk to Edgware Road Stop C and get an 18 home.
Got into work at about 11.40am today. First stage of the journey from Kensal Green - Oxford Circus went fine. Then Oxford Circus - Victoria was reasonable if a bit slow. The Victoria line was suspended south of Victoria so I caught a No 2 bus towards Noword Garage that should stop at Vauxhall. Unfortunately as we reached Vauxhall Bridge we were told that it was closed so the bus diverted along Lambeth Bridge and I got off there and walked along Albert Embankment until I reached the police cordons. Then I spent the next hour and a half or so walking along Kennington Lane then down Durham Street then past the Oval then along a bit of Clapham Road, along Fentiman Road and finally across Miles Road which brought me to Wandsworth Road and work.
Given that I'm going off camping tomorrow I had a huge bag full of stuff with me - I may see if there's any of it I can do without depending on what my journey home (to Hampshire) is going to be like.
I'm tempted to buy a bike, but realistically the distance between Kensal Green and Vauxhall is just too far to cycle and lots of bits of the tube (ie. the entire Victoria line) won't let you take unfolded bikes through them.
