Has anyone come across any Fairtrade cotton bed linen that isn't plain white/cream? I don't do plain white/cream sheets or duvet covers - they look dirty too quickly & aren't very interesting.
This won't be much help to you, because I can't find a link (they may have gone under), but we bought ours from a site which I think was called World Village. Not cheap - about £60 for a duvet cover and two pillowcases - but that was five years ago, and it still looks as good as the day we bought it. Rather nice yellow and white batik design but they did plenty other colours ...
One of my favourite duvet covers for a while was one that I bought in a charity shop and then dyed pink. You could also do this with new fairtrade sheets, I guess, although it likely isn't as environmentally friendly as buying them already-coloured.
Depends on what kind of dyeing technology you use, I'd guess - but yeah, consumer-market fabric dyes are probably not that friendly in their manufacture.
