Terribly British whinge

I can't control the temperature in my flat very easily. On Friday evening it was 17 degrees, yesterday it was 21 degrees. I suspect a major part of the reason I had such difficulty getting to sleep on Monday night was that I was too hot. I'm now tempted to try turning the remaining heaters off, but am loath to do it too soon in case it goes cold again.

I'm not saying 'I'll never live somewhere with storage heaters ever again', but certainly gas-powered central heating will get a higher spot in my list of things to consider before moving somewhere.

/me nods. We have a similar issue with fan heaters and indeed storage heaters. A useful trick is to put cups of warm water around the room or on top of storage heaters which will evaporate and increase the humidity...
