Err, so after work today I went and had a driving lesson. Tonight's lesson wasn't good - there are so many things I generally can't remember (eg. that it's one turn left, full right lock and two left when parallel parking, but full left lock, full right lock and one turn left when reversing round a corner.) and tonight I was doing all kinds of silly things -like trying to move when not in gear.....

Then went to Susie + Anna's party. Drank three plastic cup fulls of mulled wine, had my first mince pies of the season. Was nice - got to talk to people, though I wasn't really in a party mood, I just wanted to come home and sleep. I wasn't really up for being sociable. I'm so tired that the alcohol just made me curl up in a corner and doze/listen to the various conversations. Left at 11.10 ish, got in about midnight, got a lovely card from Melissa - thank you!:-) (and a couple of other ones from Guidey people). Still no forms from the court.

There was someone very drunk on the tube - someone was trying to persuade him that he had to stay awake and get off at the right stop. Can't say I had much sympathy. I'm not sober myself, but I deliberately didn't drink so much that I would be incapable of getting home. Was about to say 'Kids these days' and then remembered that he really wasn't a teenager....

Now had two glasses of water - need at least one more.

OK - need to try and get up early enough to make a detour to Sainsbury's on the way to work for lunch time drinks/nibbles.

Listening to the World Service news - since when was it acceptable to give kids adult punishments? Jesus - sentencing someone to death for a crime committed when he was seventeen for heaven's sake!!!! (And that's assuming that the death penalty is ever acceptable - and I don't belive it is) - Even if we're talking about Saddam.

I don't see how Saddam can ever receive a fair trial - he'll need access to records of his government that have been destroyed by the invasion. Any trials will be victors' justice and no more - even if it is done in an *Iraqi* court.

Personally, I think he should stand trial in both Iraqi and International courts because he has committed offences against them both, and then be allowed to serve his sentence in Iraq - I'm assuming a prison sentence, *if* he is found guilty. It's not clear that he *is* guilty, and people like Bush/Blair shouldn't be assuming he is, if they want him to receive a fair trial.

Right, sleep calls.

(Yes, very random post - I want to see whether it still makes sense in the morning)
