Someone told me last night of a concept called 'LJ as performance art'. I'd never heard of such a thing - IIRC the concept means that we're all writing for an audience and are creating a piece of art - a piece of our lives carefully packaged for our readers.
While there are things I wouldn't write about here (yes,
beingjdc there are) I certainly don't write here with the intention of writing something that people will enjoy reading!
But an interesting concept all the same. Maybe it's subconscious, and exists even where we try to deny it?
My back still hurts - though the pain is now definitely in the small of my back rather than being on the left hand side, and it's not so bad as it was - I can move my chair about without getting twinges. I did follow John's advice and slept on the floor - and actually slept quite well considering that there is a pillow's width between the end of my bed and my wardrobe and I have a double sized duvet. Ah well, I'm OK - just have hope it sorts itself out. If it doesn't I'll think about seeing a doctor after Christmas, not that I really want to go to a doctor and say 'err I have this random pain in my lower back - no there aren't any marks, no, I don't know what I've done to it etc'.
Edit
Having had a play with the NHS Direct website, it looks like there's either pressure on my sciatic nerve, I've strained a muscle/ligament or damaged some soft tissue and they recommend painkillers, not lifting anything (fat chance of that - I've got to take my lap top and clothes and bits home tomorrow, and while it can all go in a wheely case there will be a few steps to be climbed), and gentle movement. Now to sleep on the floor tonight or in my bed?
